River Room #111

Hula is meditation-in-motion, a rich language of Hawaiian lineage and storytelling. It is the bodily expression of ALOHA: living a life of kindness and tenderness, unity and harmony, honesty and humility, patience and perseverance. This movement is as soothing for the soul as it is gentle discipline for the body. Perfect for mature dancers as well. No dance experience necessary.

Yamuna Body Rolling

with Katie Marechal

** This class ended at Inhabit on Tuesday, September 1st. Beginning in mid-September, the new fall YBR Class Schedule and locations are as follows:

  • Tuesdays 9-10 am at the Smiley Building (The Dance Center #24) — beginning September 15th
  • Wednesdays 5:45-6:45 pm at the Smiley Building (The Dance Center #24) — beginning September 16th
  • Thursdays 12:30-1:30 pm at The Smiley Building (Studio #10) — beginning September 17th

Yamuna Body Rolling (YBR) is practiced on six- to ten-inch balls. Working with the body’s own natural logic and order, we start by stimulating the bones, releasing tendons, and then stretching the muscles, educating them to take up their optimal space. YBR elongates muscles, decompresses bones, joints, and nerves freeing restrictions in all parts of the body and restoring full function. YBR empowers people to tone, strengthen, and realign their own bodies creating a new mind-body connection.

TRE Drop in Group

w/ Rick Stockwell

The first Tuesday of each month | 6-7:30 pm

For those who have learned TRE from Rick (in his classes or at his office), join the TRE drop in group for continues support. We will spend a half hour discussing any issues and answering questions, and then do a group TRE session with Rick facilitating the tremor process. Many people experience a bigger release and deeper sense of relaxation tremoring in a group. Donations for the drop-in group are welcome – suggested range $15-$25

Mindfulness of the Heart

w/ Craig Holliday

 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each Month | 7:00-8:00pm

Craig will not be teaching this group in October. It will resume in November at The Smiley Building.

In the beginning of the path, mindfulness is something we do, later we discover mindfulness is what we are. Deep within our selves lives this space of mindfulness, a space of radical compassionate openness. This class is an invitation to awaken and begin to live from this space within us. It is the invitation to step onto an inclusive path, which embraces and includes all of life, and simultaneously honors that which is Ineffable about us. Through this journey we discover that this radical openness, is our true nature. Join Craig for an intimate dialogue, meditation and transmission of presence of what it means to be both fully human and fully awake to our true nature. All are welcome.

The spiritual path can be summed up in one movement: the movement from being narrow minded and self centered toward greater ever expanding openness and inclusion of every aspect of life. Yet this path which I speak of, is not simply about being open and compassionate when we are practicing yoga or meditation, it is the total embrace of ourselves, the good, the bad and the ugly, as well as the total embrace of Life in all Her manifestations. It is through this path that we discover a total nondivision within ourselves, so deep that we become fully, incomprehensibly one with Life.
